Commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day

BAE Systems

The BAE Systems D-Day 80 campaign provided an opportunity to record and share the incredible stories of veterans who took part in the D-Day landings on 6 June 1944, while also celebrating the role BAE Systems’ predecessor companies played in this historical event and the vital support we continue to provide to our Armed Forces today. The campaign ran from end of March – early June 2024.

At BAE Systems, we are proud to support our Armed Forces and D-Day 80 provided a moment for us to demonstrate our continued support of past and present Armed Forces members, while demonstrating our social value and impact to key audiences, alongside highlighting the wider value and relevance of defence in the context of growing threats to global peace and security. A key thread of our activity was the opening of the Winston Churchill Centre for Education and Learning, situated at the British Normandy Memorial. We supported the construction of the centre through a £600,000 sponsorship. Sadly, with a dwindling number of surviving veterans, D-Day will soon pass from living memory, so the Winston Churchill Centre will help to permanently mark their place in history, enabling young people to understand our past and learn the lessons from it to shape our future.
